Right from the start: The Sonos Gateway says goodbye

SONOS has carried out changes and updates from 15 May 2024. As a result, the range of functions of our SMART CONNECT KNX Sonos gateway is significantly limited. Due to these changes, we can no longer offer this product with a clear conscience.

What has changed?

microSD card
The integrable microSD card can no longer be integrated into the SONOS controller as a media library, as SONOS has removed the smbV1 protocol. However, as an alternative, you can use a network share that supports smbV2 or -V3 and add it as a new SONOS library. This is possible with current routers and NAS storage devices, for example.

TuneIn (Free Internet Radio)
The older TuneIn service can no longer be added to new SONOS controllers. This means that radio stations can no longer be added via the SMART CONNECT KNX Sonos device website. This also means that it is no longer possible to start radio stations with communication object 15 ‘Playlist selection’ via the KNX.

Other functions
Other functions of our gateway, such as dynamic group formation, are not affected by the SONOS update. Customers who do not perform a SONOS update will retain the full range of functions.

Due to these restrictions, we are unable to offer a solution in the short term and are hereby cancelling the SMART CONNECT KNX Sonos with immediate effect. It is currently unclear whether there will be an update in the future.
